Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible is God’s Word and therefore it is what we use in determining what to believe as well as how to live.
Because it was inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
(2 Timothy 3:16; John 17:17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105, 160; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)
We believe there is one God who is eternal and who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5-7; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Isaiah 44:6; Genesis 1:2, 26; Genesis 3:22; Psalm 90:2)
We believe that God created man as well as all other things in Heaven and in Earth.
(Colossians 1:15-17; Genesis 1:1-27; Ephesians 3:9; John 1:3; Psalm 8:3)
We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is God who became man through the birth of a virgin. He lived a sinless life performing many miracles. He sacrificially died for us on the cross taking the punishment for our sins which allows us to be reconciled with God. He physically rose from the dead. He was then taken up to Heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father and He will return in power and glory.
(Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:26-25; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 5:21; John 20:30-31; John 10:37-38; Romans 3:24-25; 1 Peter 2:24; Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; Romans 4:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17)
We believe that all mankind is born with a sinful nature which hinders us from a relationship with God. There are no works we can do in order to make ourselves right with God. We can only be made right with God through our faith in Jesus Christ. When we surrender our lives to Jesus, the Holy Spirit changes us so that we no longer have a sinful nature but are considered “new creatures in Christ.”
(Psalm 14:1-3; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10-12, 22-23; Isaiah 53:6; Isaiah 59:1-2)(Isaiah 64:6; Romans 4:1-6; Romans 3:28; Galatians 2:21; John 14:6; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 3:26; Romans 10:9-10)
We believe that the Holy Spirit is in every Christian and His power allows us to live a godly life.
(Romans 8:9-11; Ephesians 1:13; Titus 3:5; Philippians 1:6; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18)
We believe that all mankind will rise from the dead and will live forever. Those who have life through Jesus Christ will rise to spend eternity with God in Heaven and those who rejected Jesus Christ in this life will rise to be damned forever in Hell.
(John 6:39; Romans 8:10-11; 2 Corinthians 4:14; Daniel 12:2; John 5:29; Revelation 20:13-15; 1 John 5:11-13)
We believe that all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ are united together through the Holy Spirit as a part of one spiritual church with Jesus as the Head.
(1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 2:15-3:6; Acts 2:42, Ephesians 1:22-23)
FINAL AUTHORITY FOR MATTERS OF BELIEF AND CONDUCT
The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Abundant Life Christian Center’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Pastor and Elders are Abundant Life Christian Center’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.13-18)
Because God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and Himself, Abundant Life Christian Center will only recognize marriages between a biological man and a biological woman. Further, the Pastor, Elders and staff of Abundant Life Christian Center shall only participate in weddings and solemnize marriages between one man and one woman. Finally, because weddings are deemed as worship services at Abundant Life Christian Canter the facilities and property of Abundant Life Christian Center shall only host weddings between one man and one woman.
ABUNDANT LIFE CHRISTIAN CENTER STATEMENT ON MARRIAGE, GENDER, AND SEXUALITY
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.)
We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.)
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Abundant Life Christian Center as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to Abundant Life Christian Center’s members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Abundant Life Christian Center in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess 5:22.)
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.)
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.)
